we found a town in the coastal range
streets all peppered in yellowed change
the boys drove by in trucks so loud
snow in piles: dirty, brown, and plowed
all the sound made us frightened
skipping in tandem, gravity lightened
we saw a woman I once knew
you felt uneasy and we saw it through (like we always do)
holding hands as day kissed night
I woke up sweating, but everything was alright
rain dripping, eastern door
pain slipping, we turned for
each other’s bodies
I heard you calling
but you didn’t say a word
and you didn’t have to
I wished you another goodbye
silent lips on sleeping eyes
a deep love, hard to believe
but I hope you felt it, when i had to leave
